Dermal Needling – what’s all the fuss about?
Dermal needling, even though it may not sound like it, is a skin friendly treatment.
At Shine we use the Dermastamp – an advanced medical skin-needling device that uses vertical needling technology. It is a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin. Our medical needling device is fully adjustable, meaning that we are able to change the depth that we are working on in the skin for each individual client or concern.
The gentle stimulus provided by Dermastamp is far more “skin friendly” and effective than many other more invasive and expensive skin treatments. It leaves the entire epidermal barrier fully intact; the micro-channels seal within hours after application – which is long enough for new collagen-structures to form within the lower layers of the skin and short enough to allow the patient to resume normal schedules quickly. Dermastamp eliminates all common negative side effects and risks associated with chemical peeling, dermabrasion and laser-resurfacing. This means your skin is ready sooner for additional treatment.
What is skin needling and how does it work?
Dermal needling is also called micro-needling therapy, skin needling, collagen induction therapy or scar reduction therapy. It is a minimally invasive, non-surgical and nonablative procedure for skin rejuvenation and scar reduction that involves the use of a micro-needling device to create controlled skin injury.
Each fine needle creates a micro channel in the skin and this triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin in the dermis.
Dermastamp stimulates new tissue formation and cell function. Stainless steel has an electrical charge. As we penetrate the skin we change the polarity in the cell. This stimulates & releases proteins & growth factors.
- Epidermal growth factors- stimulates healthy skin and collagen.
- Keratinocyte growth factor- regulates health of skin resulting in a radiant glow.
- Melanocyte growth factor- regulates and evens pigmentation and results in even skin tone.
- Transforming growth factors-Ensures skin functions are at an optimim.
- Transforming growth factor B1 and B2- scar reduction- keeps cells from growing in an uncontrolled way
- Fibroblasts growth factor- stimulates new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid resulting in smooth skin.
- Increase circulation-improves delivery of oxygen giving radiance
Scar Reduction Therapy (SRT) works by releasing old fibrotic scar tissue deep within the skin, breaking down the fibrotic tissue, releasing the anchor that makes the scar indented, this allows the skin to naturally come back up and plump out the scar.
We are working on mainly the transforming growth factor B1 and B2. B1 is protein that regulates various cell activities inside the cell, including the growth and division of cells the prevention of normal scarring .
Treating all types of scaring:
- Acne scaring
- ice-pick scars
- rolling scars
- box scar scars
- surgical scars
- deep well established wrinkles
- 70-80% reduction of scaring
- Balances excessive oil production
- Improved overall skin tone
- Plumping of scars
For best results- 4-6 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart
You can expect a 70-80% improvement in the normalising of scar tissue over the course of treatments
Collagen induction Therapy (CIT) works to increase the healthiest functioning skin by increasing epidermal growth factors. Our aims are to stimulate growth factors which ensure the regulation of skin function for healthy glowing skin, even skin tone and minimising pigment, stimulating collagen for reduced ageing and increase in oxygen for overall skin health.
Target concerns are:
- Ageing-reduction in lines and increase in firmness.
- Skin health.
- Skin rejuvenation resulting in radiant skin.
- Even skin tone.
- Reduces stubbon congestion.
- Large pores.
For acne clients our focus is to increase oxygen levels in the skin therefore killing the bacteria that causes acne. Also helping with pore size and refining the skin.
3 treatments are recommended 2-3 weeks apart.
For all other concerns our focus is to increase epidermal growth factors which are responsible for the creation of new collagen, increased cell turnover and a healthier functioning skin. Recommend minimum 3 treatments for an improvement. 6 Treatments are recommended for more advanced ageing, pigmentation or for longer lasting results. Every 3-6 weeks for best results.
Skin nutrition – for delivery of the right ingredients such as vitamins, essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants and nutrients into keratinocytes and melanocytes. This allows up to 100% product penetration into the skin, compared to just 1-30% with normal topical application.
It is important to note that home care enhances this treatment – you will need to be using hardworking skin care that has been recommended by your beauty therapist (that means no supermarket and chemist brands!) to achieve excellent results. Dermal needling is about getting powerful ingredients delivered to where they need to go, and using good home care products will ensure you skin responds at its maximum potential.
