We can recommend high-quality sunscreens that suit your skin type and lifestyle.
Pigmentation is the process by which our skin produces melanin—the pigment responsible for our skin, hair, and eye colour. This complex biological function is carried out by melanocytes. These cells produce melanin which is triggered by internal factors (like hormones) and external influences (such as UV exposure or trauma to the skin). Once produced, melanin is packaged into small structures called melanosomes and transferred to surrounding skin cells (keratinocytes), where it forms a protective shield over the cell’s nucleus to guard against DNA damage. In healthy skin, melanin is distributed evenly. But when this process is disrupted—through overstimulation, inflammation, or hormonal changes—it can result in areas of excess pigment, known as hyperpigmentation.
